When you first run Split My Scan, you'll be prompted to enter your email address and license key. Enter the information that was sent to you after purchase. Once activated, you won't be asked again unless your license expires or you reinstall the app.
Make sure you're entering the exact email address you used when purchasing. The email must match the license key. Also check that you haven't accidentally included extra spaces. If you continue to have issues, contact support with your email address and we'll help resolve it.
Split My Scan works with any Windows scanner that supports WIA (Windows Image Acquisition). First, make sure your scanner is powered on and connected. Try the "Test Scanner" button in the app. If it still doesn't work, ensure your scanner drivers are installed and up to date. You can also use the "Open Image" feature to process existing scanned files.
Typically 6-8 photos per scan works best, but you can scan as many as fit on your scanner bed. The app automatically detects each photo, so you don't need perfect alignment. Just place them in a grid layout and scan once.
The app works with JPG, PNG, and TIFF files. If your scanner can save to these formats, Split My Scan can process them. The output files are saved as PNG to preserve quality.
Yes! You can use the "Open Image" button to process existing scanned image files. This is useful if you've already scanned photos using other software, or if you're working with photos from a phone or camera.
The app shows you a preview of all detected photos before saving. You can select which ones to save, and use the rotation button to fix orientation. If a photo isn't detected, try ensuring good contrast between the photos and the scanner background.
Licenses are valid for 1 month from purchase. To renew, simply purchase a new license key. You'll receive a new key via email that you can activate in the app. Your license key will work for another month from the purchase date.
Absolutely not. Split My Scan runs entirely on your computer. Your photos never leave your machine and are never uploaded to any server. Everything is processed locally for complete privacy.
Make sure you're running Windows 10 or later. Try right-clicking the executable and selecting "Run as administrator". If Windows Defender or antivirus software is blocking it, add an exception for Split My Scan.
Use 300 DPI for faster scanning. 600 DPI provides higher quality but takes longer. For bulk scanning, 300 DPI is usually sufficient and significantly faster.
Photos are saved to an "output" folder in the same directory as the Split My Scan executable. You can move this folder wherever you like - the app will recreate it if needed.
